Mittenwalder
Geigenbau, anno 1930. un de collectie von Joh. Stuber, Der Haag.
This dark, powerful cello originally belonged to a very fine
concert jazz saxophonist who obviously played other instruments
as well. His son, who has consigned it to us, related the story
that the cello left that part of Europe with his father on one
of the last trains out of there before the Nazis took over. It
has both a bassbar repair and a soundpost patch in the top
both old repairs and very well done but has little other
damage. A very well-made cello, it was nearly purchased by a
top professional cellist when it first arrived here.
No. 1021.
