John Juzek, (Red Label) Master Art 1948

The John Juzek red labeled Master Art series are perhaps the most sought-after cellos in the world in their price range.  For about a ten-year period beginning in the late 1930's, these copies of the great masters were made by members of the guilds in Mittenwald and many have found their way into the concert world, played by cellists like Carter Brey & Melissa Perley, among others. The wood used is some of the finest we've ever seen, and the craftsmanship ranks with Europe's best.  This cello is a Guarnerius copy, made in 1948. It has a rich, throaty sound with almost unlimited power: the kind of instrument that challenges its player to plumb its depths. These don't surface very often.
