7/8 Johann Leibman

We get many requests from cellists who feel more comfortable with smaller cellos.  The reasons vary, but all agree that they can play much better, and with less physical stress with a smaller size instrument.  The problem is that smaller cellos generally have smaller sound.

In order to address this problem, we brought in a 7/8 Johann Leibman, the full-size version of which has always been a terrific player.  We could not have been prepared for what we found. Most smaller cellos have a good upper register and this one is indeed lovely, but what we did not expect was the rich, full, deep lower notes, all the way down to low C. Well set up with a Belgian bridge and Kaplan strings, the volume is comparable to a full size cello and the tone is consistent throughout. We've seen cellists, who have struggled with instrument size and string length, blossom with a 7/8.   If you feel that a smaller size instrument would help your progress, we can definitely recommend this cello.

Not sure if this is the right cello for you?  To take advantage of our 7-day trial policy, or to learn more about this cello, email pperleycellos@aol.com or call 802 229–1501.
