It is difficult to find a great European cello in this price range. This is an exceptional instrument from Germany: fine workmanship, lovely varnish, and in a slightly smaller model which is also difficult to find in this era of increasingly larger new cellos. A terrific player, from balancing a string quartet to competing with a full orchestra in a concerto. Very even from a rich low C to the very highest register. . The Hamma has warm, focused tone with plenty of power at a very affordable price.
