John, is a fine maker (& cellist) who we’ve known for many years. His brother, also a cellist, happens to own a 1712 David Tecchler cello, and graciously lent it to John to copy. The result is this beautiful model with high arching, graceful bouts and one of the sweetest sounds we’ve heard from a cello in a long time. This doesn’t mean that it won’t have the power for solo or orchestral playing: the cello is wonderfully focused, has a wide dynamic range, and will compete with almost anything playing against it. John’s fine workmanship is true to form, and yet he still keeps his price affordable.

John is moving toward retirement after an illustrious and successful career. His cellos are reduced 25% to $15,000: an unheard of price for a cello made by a luthier of John’s status.
