The full label reads: “Made in Czechoslovakia for the Rudolph Wurlitzer Co., New York, New York, by Karel Vysoky, Violinmaker, 1931. Rudolph Wurlitzer was the originator of the shop that would much later become became one of the finest violin houses in the history of the U.S.. After several years of importing violin family instruments from his frelatives in Germany, Rudolph began manufacturing the pianos, organs and other instruments some of which are still around today. In 1949 Rudolph’s son Rembert left that firm to take his firm to its great heights, employing the finest German Luthiers in the world. Rembert also had string instruments for his shop constructed by makers in Germany, several of which have come through this shop.

This cello has a lovely, sweet tone as the wood has aged nearly 100 years. And it is remarkably easy to finger and bow.
