Tyrolean Cello, Early 1800's

$40,000.00

The label inside reads…Carlo Testore…and for many years the cello was thought to be just that. It was played for many years in a professional symphony orchestra: when the owner passed, her family lent it to her stand-partner who had always loved the sound. She passed more recently and the family of the owner is now offering it for sale. It is technically a 7/8 cello but you certainly can’t tell by its sound: wonderfully woody, complex, strong - you can hear the 200+years of age in the wood. The pegs are a unique, lightweight geared peg we’ve only seen one other time in our histroy. This cello is a rare find and we’re proud to have it in our shop. With a certificate by David Bonsey of NY.
